"We suspended your account": what it means and what to do
A suspension means you still have time to disagree. Use it well.
Stuck? Skip the letters and send your case to people who do this every day.
We'll handle it for youThis notice appears when you log in to Instagram or Facebook. It says your account doesn't follow the Community Standards, and it shows a countdown, often "You have 180 days left to disagree". Your profile is hidden while it runs. If you don't appeal, or the appeal fails, the account is permanently disabled.
What to do today
- Screenshot everything: the notice, the days left, and the "Why this happened" text below it.
- Tap "Disagree with decision" and enter the code Meta sends to your email or phone.
- Complete any video selfie or ID step in good light, from your usual phone.
- Fill the text box with a short, specific appeal. Generate one, picking "suspended".
- Write down the date you appealed. You'll need it if you follow up.
What the notice is really saying
| Phrase | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "Your account doesn't follow our Community Standards" | A rule was triggered, often by automated detection |
| "You have X days left to disagree" | Your appeal window. The account isn't deleted yet. |
| "We're reviewing your appeal" | Your appeal is in the queue. Don't resubmit. |
| "We disabled your account" | Appeal rejected or window passed. See no option to appeal. |
Common mistakes
- Waiting because the countdown seems long. Evidence gets stale and people forget details.
- Making a backup account while suspended. It can be suspended too.
- Clicking "suspension" links in DMs or emails. Real notices only appear when you log in.
Instagram vs Facebook
Both use the same flow. If your accounts are linked in Accounts Center, a suspension on one can affect the other, so appeal each one that's affected. UnbanPro explains the suspension notice in detail from the recovery side.
Questions people ask
Is a suspended account deleted?
No. It's hidden while the countdown runs. It's only permanently disabled if you don't appeal or the appeal fails.
Can I appeal twice?
You get one review through this flow. Make it complete the first time.
How long does the review take?
Meta doesn't publish a fixed time. Note your appeal date and follow up if you hear nothing.
